3M Belgium is one of the subsidiaries of the international 3M Company with headquarters in Minnesota (USA) and subsidiaries in more than 60 countries.
In 2007 3M sales totalled over 24,5 billion dollar. Worldwide 3M has a staff of 75.400 employees.
3M is developing, manufacturing and selling more than 50.000 products for industry, health care, office, communication and consumer markets.

Innovation, the driving force behind our growth

6% of our total sales is invested in research and development. More than 40% of each year’s sales come from products introduced within the last four years. Worldwide the sales of products less than one year old, amounts to more than 1 billion dollar. This innovation has brought us more than 30 core technologies, including specialty chemicals and polymers, adhesives, abrasives, non-woven fibres, films, ceramics and optics, microreplication etc. They are the basis of more than 50.000 products and often 3M was the first to introduce a completely new product. Just think of Wetordry sanding paper, Scotch Tapes, Reflective sheeting for traffic signs, Scotch-Brite pads, strips, synthetic casting tape, Post-it Notes, and recently the ultrathin 3M Precision Mouse Pad and Scotch Tape strips.

3M in Belgium

3M Belgium has a sales office at Diegem and a manufacturing plant at Zwijndrecht and employs a total of 550 people. 3M Europe, the European headquarters of 3M, is located at Diegem as well and counts 110 employees. The sales office at Diegem supplies the Belgian and Luxembourg market with an extensive range of 3M products.
3M at Zwijndrecht is the headquarters for the European production and sales of specialty materials, among which semi-finished materials for other 3M manufacturing plants (tapes and adhesives e.g. for Post-it Notes).
In addition to the plant one of the leading 3M laboratories for research and development of specialty materials and technical support of customers is located at Zwijndrecht as well.
